Plot synopsis
Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.
The film follows a rebellious, uncontrollable teenager (Lohan) who is forced by her dysfunctional mother (Huffman) to spend the summer with her grandmother (Fonda) after it was discovered that she was molested by her stepfather (Elwes). Her journey will lead all three women to revelations of buried family secrets and an understanding bout the unbreakable strength of family bonds.

The film is scheduled for theatrical release, May 11, 2007.

Controversy
On July 26, 2006, it was reported that James G. Robinson, the head of production company Morgan Creek Productions, sent a letter to star Lindsay Lohan in response to all the time Lohan has missed shooting. While Lohan's agents claim she didn't come to the set because of "heat exhaustion", Robinson stated "We are well aware that your ongoing all night heavy partying is the real reason for your so called 'exhaustion.'" Robinson also stated Lohan "acted like a spoiled child and in doing so have alienated many of your co-workers and endangered the quality of this picture." Robinson warned Lohan that she will be held "personally accountable" for losses caused by her actions, and claims that Lohan's behavior has already "resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage
